Shiv Sena (UBT) Criticizes Congress for No Response to INDIA Bloc's Horizons

In a fresh update in the news under India latest news today, the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) has strongly lashed out against the Congress party for not meeting to discuss the future and prospects of the INDIA opposition grouping in its recently held Ahmedabad meeting. It is at an important juncture, when state elections to Bihar, Gujarat, and West Bengal are only around the corner.

The Sena (UBT) conveyed its unease through an editorial in its mouthpiece Saamana, which said that the Congress conference of April 8–9, presided over by top leaders like Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi, addressed only party-related issues. No discussion on the INDIA bloc sent eyebrows high among alliance constituents.

"Questions are being raised over where the INDIA bloc is today after the Lok Sabha polls," the editorial added. "What happened to the alliance? Was it planted in the grave or did it vanish into air? The Congress president owes the nation an explanation."

As noted by India latest news today, Sena (UBT) also raised questions over Congress's polling strategy in such states where the key INDIA bloc partners like the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), and Trinamool Congress (TMC) play a vital role. Congress's performance in Gujarat was specifically marked, where the party has never managed to bounce back since 2014 even though it organised its recent session there and still managed to retain only a solitary Lok Sabha seat.

The editorial urged Congress to strengthen its base in states like Madhya Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh, and acknowledged the mixed bag performance of the party in Maharashtra. It attributed the party's recent state assembly election defeats to both internal challenges and reported BJP scams.

Issuing a warning to Congress against defying INDIA bloc allies, the Sena (UBT) used the example of the Delhi assembly elections, where Congress as well as AAP was trounced though within the same alliance configuration.

"If Congress continues to battle against INDIA bloc allies in other states, it will benefit the BJP," the editorial cautioned. "We need to defeat the BJP, not our allies."

In summary, the editorial highlighted that Congress must step forward and take a leadership role in fighting authoritarianism and charting the course of the INDIA bloc in the future—an issue increasingly in the spotlight in India latest news today reports across the country.
